Appendix B. Rock Sample Analyses

Description: Table showing the location and elemental analysis of samples from rock, stream sediment, stream waters, and oil-field brines collected in the Enid Quadrangle of Oklahoma and Kansas. Samples were analyzed for uranium and trace elements by TSL Laboratories of Seattle, Washington. "The purpose of the rock-sampling program was to characterize fully the range of uranium concentrations in each formation." (p. 3 of report)

An Assessment of the Collection and Analysis of Hydrologic Data by Private Contractors for the U.S. Geological Survey

Description: From abstract: During fiscal years 1978 through 1981, the U.S. Geological Survey contracted for the acquisition and analysis of hydrologic data from 104 surface water stations, 26 ground water stations, and 15 precipitation gages as well as for several hundred miscellaneous surface water measurements of flow and water quality. The work was performed in Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, terminating at the end of the fiscal year 1981. This report is an assessment of … more

A Data-Management System for Areal Interpretive Data for the High Plains in Parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming

Description: From abstract: The High Plains Regional Aquifer System Analysis study has developed a regional water-resources (and related) data storage and retrieval system to organize and preserve areal interpretive data. The system is general and can easily be adapted for other studies. This report documents the High Plains data base as well as the general system that is independent of the High Plains area.

Estimating 1980 Ground-Water Pumpage for Irrigation on the High Plains in Parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming

Description: From introduction: This report describes the results of 1980 sampling of ground-water pumpage for irrigation on the High Plains, one phase of the High Plains Regional Aquifer-System Analysis project. These data were collected to estimate the volume of irrigation water pumped during 1980 and to determine current trends in irrigation pumpage on the High Plains.

Evaluating Methods for Determining Water Use in the High Plains in Parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming; 1979

Description: From introduction: "The U.S. Geological Survey began a 5-year study of the High Plains regional aquifer during the 1978 to provide the hydrologic information needed for the development of computer models to evaluate the aquifer's response to ground-water management alternatives." It contains maps, graphs, and tables.

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Lawton Quadrangle, Oklahoma and Texas

Description: From purpose and scope: The Lawton Quadrangle, Oklahoma and Texas (Fig. 1), was evaluated to a depth of 1500 m (5,000 ft) to identify geologic environments and delineate areas that exhibit characteristics favorable for uranium deposits. Determination of uranium favorability was based on the similarity of geologic characteristics to the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) recognition criteria described in Mickle and Mathews (eds., 1978).
