Airborne Gamma-Ray Spectrometer and Magnetometer Survey: Final Report, Volume 2, Fresno Quadrangle (California)

Description: From introduction: The Fresno sheet of the Geologic Map of California (California) Division of Mines and Geology, 1978) was used as a basis for the interpretation of the geophysical data. The formation descriptions in Appendix C are derived from this map. Parts of three physiographic provinces are present in the Fresno quadrangle (Albers, 1966)...

Distribution of Nitrate in the Unsaturated Zone, Highland-East Highlands Area, San Bernardino County, California

Description: From abstract: "This study was made to describe the distribution of inorganic nitrogen and other chemical constituents and nitrogen-using bacteria in the unsaturated zone, to relate nitrogen occurrences, in a general way, to present and historical land use, and to attempt to predict nitrogen concentrations in ground water after recharge" within the Highland-East Highlands area of San Bernardino County, California. It includes maps, graphs, and tables.

Energy conservation in citrus processing. Technical progress report, October 1, 1979-March 31, 1980

Description: The Sunkist Citrus Plant in Ontario, California, processes about 6 million pounds of citrus fruit per day to make products which include frozen concentrated juice; chilled, pasteurized, natural strength juice; molasses from peel; dried meal from peel; pectin; citrus oil; and bioflavonoids. The energy intensive operations at the plant include concentration, drying, and refrigeration. The objective of the two-year two-phase project is to identify an economically viable alternative to the existing… more

Geological Study of Uranium Potential of the Kingston Peak Formation, Death Valley Region, California: Final Report

Description: From introduction: Our particular interest in the uranium potential of the Proterozoic quartz-pebble and quartzite-pebble conglomerates of the Kingston Peak Formation has been based upon: 1. Known uranium occurrences of low to intermediate grade in a peliticarkosic sulfide-bearing unit near the base of the formation; the "Favorable Submember" of this report. 2. Uranium occurrences and widespread anomalies in underlying Proterozoic granitic-metamorphic rocks, including the World Beater Complex, … more

Geology and Uranium Favorability of the Sonora Pass Region, Alpine and Tuolumne Counties, California

Description: From project objectives: The Sonora Pass region was identified by the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a potential uranium resource area because of past uranium production at the Juniper Mine and reported high-grade occurrences in other buried fluvial channels which are Tertiary in age. The objective of the Sonora Pass drilling project was to obtain subsurface data that would increase the accuracy of uranium reserve estimates for the project area.
