Air Quality Issues and Animal Agriculture: EPA’s Air Compliance Agreement

Description: This report discusses a plan announced by EPA in January 2005, called the Air Compliance Agreement, that would produce air quality monitoring data on animal agriculture emissions from a small number of farms, while at the same time protecting all participants (including farms where no monitoring takes place) through a “safe harbor” from liability under certain provisions of federal environmental laws.

Description: Can supersymmetric models with a moderate stop mass be made consistent with the negative Higgs boson searches at LEP, while keeping perturbative unification manifest? The NMSSM achieves this rather easily, but only if extra matter multiplets filling complete SU(5) representations are present at intermediate energies. Description: Amorphous metal and ceramic thermal spray coatings have been developed that can be used to enhance the corrosion resistance of containers for the transportation, aging and disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive wastes. Beam-Beam Simulations for a Single Pass SuperB-Factory

Description: A study of beam-beam collisions for an asymmetric single pass SuperB-Factory is presented [1]. In this scheme an e{sup -} and an e{sup +} beam are first stored and damped in two Damping Rings (DR), then extracted, compressed and focused to the IP. Beta-Beat Correction Using Strong Sextupole Bumps in PEP-II

Description: A method for correcting lattice beta mismatches has been developed for the PEP-II collider using orbit offsets in strong sextupoles. The solution is first predicted in the MAD program by modeling closed orbit bumps in the plane of correction at the sextupoles strongest in that plane. The derived solution is then tested in the machine to confirm prediction, and finally dialed into the machine under high-current conditions.

Bi3+ Luminescence in ABiO2Cl (A = Sr, Ba) and BaBiO2Br

Description: Trivalent bismuth luminescence is reported in three Sillenbismuth oxyhalide phases, SrBiO2Cl, BaBiO2Cl, and BaBiO2Br.
