Description: The compatibility of Dowex 1x4 nitrate form anion resin with nitric acid, and the compatibility of several types of plastic tubing with nitric acid were investigated. Ignition properties of resin extract, treated resin and mixtures of tubing extract with either resin extract or treated resin were also investigated.

Production test PTA-002, increased graphite temperature limit -- B, C and D Reactors

Description: The fundamental objective of the graphite temperature limit is to prevent excessive oxidation of the graphite moderator blocks with carbon dioxide and water vapor in the reactor atmosphere. Laboratory tests have shown that 10% uniform oxidation of graphite results in a loss in strength of approximately 50%.
